“Sailing Towards the Golden Shore - Climbing Ten Thousand Himalayas”
I think this is a good juxtaposition of the spiritual life - The final destination and the travails of reaching there.
When writing poetry Sri Chinmoy often used images of nature to convey ideas. The golden shore is the bliss of God-consciousness. Climbing ten thousand Himalayas is the long and arduous path we must cross to reach the goal.
Two poems from Ten Thousand Flower Flames by Sri Chinmoy:
SPIRITUALITY IS LIKE CLIMBING
Spirituality is not like coasting
But exactly like climbing-
Climbing ten thousand Himalayas.
From the book “Ten Thousand Flower-Flames Part 58”
The Golden Shore is Waiting
Although you are experiencing
Repeated defeats and failures,
Do not give up!
Always remember
The Golden Shore is waiting
For nobody else but you.
Excerpt from Ten Thousand Flower-Flames, Part 98 by Sri Chinmoy.
